- At least 60% charge your phone. It prevents the phone from turning off.
- Make a complete phone backup. Unlocking the bootloader deletes everything on your phone.
- Xiaomi Redmi 10 ADB drivers may be downloaded and installed. Without drivers, the computer won’t detect your phone.
Step 1: Unlock Xiaomi Redmi 10 Bootloader
Redmi 10 phones have locked bootloaders. Locked bootloaders prevent flashing modified images and rooting. Therefore, unlock the bootloader before continuing. Redmi 10 bootloader unlock instructions are here.
Step 2: Magisk-patched boot image
First, download a stock Redmi 10 ROM (firmware). To root the phone, we’ll tweak the ROM boot image and flash it. Many websites provide Xiaomi firmware downloads.
- Extract firmware after downloading. Some new files will appear.
- Install Magisk.
- Magisk > Install > Patch boot image file.
- The software patches and stores the boot image on your phone. Copy and rename this file “boot.img” on your PC.
Step 3: Flashing the modified boot image
After connecting your phone to your computer, type the following command in CMD:
- If your phone lacks A/B partitions:
flash boot boot.img
- A/B partitioned phones:
fastboot flash boot_a patched_boot.img fastboot flash boot_b patched_boot.img
- When the updated image has been successfully flashed, a phone restart is required.
After installing Magisk on your Xiaomi Redmi 10, you may update it through the app. Patch and flash the firmware before updating. Magisk provides root advantages and a module system.
